Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will the test hurt?
A: No! PFTs are completely painless. They require effort and you may feel tired, but there's no pain involved.
Q: Can I eat before my test?
A: Yes, but avoid large meals within 2 hours of your appointment. A light snack is fine.
Q: What if I can't hold my breath for 10 seconds?
A: That's okay! Our staff will work with you and adjust as needed. Do your best—that's all we ask.
Q: Can children do these tests?
A: Yes! We test both children and adults. Most children can successfully complete PFTs starting around age 5-6.
Q: What should I do if I'm on oxygen?
A: Let us know when you schedule. You may be asked to go off oxygen briefly for certain tests.
Q: Can I drive myself home after?
A: Yes! You can return to all normal activities immediately after testing
